We're back, more beautiful than ever!

Welcome to the improved, no expense spared, new look, Burlicious blog (fanfare of trumpets and popping champagne corks, Maestro, please). There has, I accept, been a small intermission in writing while the rest of life elbowed its way to the front of the attention queue in 2011. However, the dancing continued uninterrupted throughout the year, and here we are, fully sequinned up, ready to shimmy and grind enthusiastically into 2012.

It’s hard to believe that we’re in our fourth year of dancing burlesque, and well into our third year of running our own classes. Class starts again on Weds 4th January and we can’t wait to wriggle back into a corset (ah, the flattery of a firmly-laced corset after a week of Christmas indulgence - breathing is strictly optional) and get dancing again.

So, what are the plans for this term?

We’ll start with our beginner’s routine – Little Spender (a curtailed version of Big Spender). Ladies, if you’re thinking of giving the class a whirl, this is the perfect time to join us. It’s a short and simple routine (90 seconds long) to music that you’ll know. We guarantee you’ll have got the routine taped by the end of your first class and you’ll go away delighted with yourself and it.

After that we’ll start our parasol routine to Christina Aguilera’s “Guy What Takes His Time”. Just the thought of it makes me smile. There is no limit to the number of ways in which a perfectly innocent parasol can become a weapon of mass destruction in the hands of the average showgirl. Be warned, Herne Bay – we really can’t be trusted with this stuff!

Yours, sewing beads on a lacy bra,

Burlicious xx
